Abstract

Plant tissue culture is a highly controlled technique used for the in vitro growth of plant cells, tissues, and organs, where maintaining strict laboratory safety is essential for both experimental success and personnel protection. This document presents comprehensive safety guidelines that integrate good laboratory conduct, proper use of personal protective equipment, and rigorous aseptic techniques. Since tissue cultures are highly sensitive to microbial contamination, special emphasis is given on sterile handling practices within laminar airflow cabinets, along with effective sterilization methods such as autoclaving and filtration. The safe handling, labeling, and storage of chemicals, including plant growth regulators and disinfectants, are providing to minimize health and environmental risks. Proper operation and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment further contribute to safe and efficient workflows. The guidelines highlight the importance of systematic waste disposal, including the treatment of biological and chemical waste to prevent contamination and hazards. Fire safety measures, emergency preparedness, and first aids awareness are emphasized as critical components of laboratory management. Accurate documentation and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) ensure reproducibility, and compliance with safety standards. Overall, maintaining discipline, hygiene, and consistency in laboratory procedures significantly reduces risks and supports reliable outcomes in plant tissue culture research.
