Abstract
Nutrition is a cornerstone of good health and plays a vital role in growth, development, disease prevention, and overall well-being. Everyday foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, pulses, dairy products, nuts, seeds, and lean protein sources provide essential nutrients required for normal body functions. These foods supply carbohydrates for energy, proteins for growth and tissue repair, healthy fats for cellular functions, vitamins and minerals for metabolic processes, and dietary fiber for digestive health. Scientific evidence indicates that regular consumption of nutrient-dense foods is associated with a lower risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions. Functional foods, including fermented products and probiotic-rich foods, further contribute to gut health and immune function. Adequate hydration and balanced dietary patterns are equally important for maintaining optimal health across all stages of life. Choosing affordable, locally available, and sustainable foods can improve nutritional status while supporting environmental sustainability. Adopting healthy eating habits and consuming a diverse diet remain fundamental strategies for achieving long-term health and quality of life.
