Vigyaksha Popular Article Guidelines

Communicating Science to Inspire, Inform, and Ignite Curiosity

We invite scientists, educators, writers, and innovators to contribute popular science articles to Vigyaksha. These articles should be informative, accurate, and accessible—written for curious minds across disciplines, not just technical experts.

Article Components

1. Title
Your title should be clear, engaging, and capture the essence of the article. Avoid jargon. Aim for clarity and curiosity.

2. Introduction
Begin with a strong hook—why should readers care about this topic? Then briefly introduce the subject, its relevance, and what your article will explore.

3. Body / Narrative Structure
Break your content into logical, readable sections with subheadings. Depending on your topic, consider the following flow:
The background or problem being addressed
The current understanding or solution
Real-world examples, case studies, or metaphors
The science behind it (explained in simple language)
Why it matters to society, health, environment, or future
You may also use storytelling, analogies, or interviews to keep readers engaged.

5. Conclusion / Takeaway
Summarize the key insight or message. Leave readers with a clear understanding or call to think deeper.

6. References (if used)
If citing data or studies, include links or references in MLA style. Keep them minimal and reader-friendly. You may hyperlink them if submitting online.

7. Keywords
Include 4–6 keywords or tags for indexing. Example: CRISPR, Gene Editing, Agriculture, Ethics, Sustainability

8. Article Length
Standard articles: 1000–1500 words
Feature stories: 2000–3000 words
Deep dives/cover pieces: up to 4000–5000 words (upon editorial request)
Use concise, active voice. Avoid academic jargon unless it is explained.

9. Style and Formatting
Font: Times New Roman or Arial, size 12
Spacing: 1.5 lines; standard 1-inch margins
Tone: Conversational, accurate, inclusive
Headings: Use clear section titles and subheadings
Citations: MLA format; hyperlinks if digital

10. Originality & Ethics
Articles must be original and unpublished
Any quotes, data, or borrowed ideas must be credited
Plagiarized content will be rejected

11. Review & Editing
All articles undergo editorial review
Feedback may be shared for clarity or content improvement
Final edits will align with Vigyaksha’s style and tone

12. Acknowledgments (Optional)
Feel free to thank collaborators, mentors, or institutions at the end.

4. Visuals (Optional but Encouraged)

High-quality images, infographics, timelines, or figures help explain complex topics. Submit with proper captions and credits. Minimum image resolution: 300 dpi.
